Raymond Loftis Jr., 77, of Cheraw, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.

A graveside funeral service will be held in Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee, Okla., with John Meek officiating. Arrangements are pending.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chesterfield County.

Born in Shawnee, Mr. Loftis was a son of the late Raymond and Iva Linnie Ball Loftis. He was a graduate of Shawnee High School where he was a talented left-handed pitcher. Mr. Loftis served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne, during the European Campaign in World War II. He retired in 1989 after a 40-year career with oil and gas pipeline companies, most recently as a terminal supervisor with Dixie and Exxon. Mr. Loftis was a member of North Cheraw Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Louise Meek Loftis; a daughter, Vicki (George) Evans of Greenville, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Lori Evans of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Loftis, and a sister, Dola Rhea Moore.

Arrangements were entrusted to Kiser Funeral Home.
