A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 from Cobb Memorial Baptist Church with the Revs. David Lee and Brian Bohannon officiating. Burial followed in Woodard and Wright Cemetery at Old Hundred.

Born in Scotland County, N.C., Mr. Wright was a son of the late Joe C. and Lillie Mae Wright. He was a pioneer in the recycling business of Richmond and surrounding counties. Mr. Wright was an active 53-year member and past Deacon of Cobb Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Julia Raymelle Wright; three sons, Alton Thomas Wright Jr. of Cheraw, Holly Cameron (Susan) Wright and David Randolph (Mary) Wright of Rockingham; three daughters, Rovetta (Kenneth) Ratliff of Florence, Donna W. (Odell) Franklin of Hamlet, N.C., and Barbara Annette (Jerry) Chavis of Rockingham; a brother, Charlie Wright of Rockingham; three sisters, Batty McDaniels of Jacksonville, Fla., Juanita Hartsel of Albemarle, N.C., and Linda Smith of Rockingham; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia Denise Wright and Patricia Wright.
Arrangements were entrusted to Watson-King Funeral Home.
