A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23 from Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, with The Rev. Dr. Samuel G. Catoe officiating.

Born in Kershaw County, Mr. Neal was a son of the late William E. and Sarah Stover Neal. He was educated in Kershaw public schools and graduated from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Neal was formerly employed with Springs Industries as well as Wal-Mart in the Lancaster area. At the time of his death, he was an employee of Midlands Technical College. Mr. Neal was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church.
Surviving are three aunts, Nella Small, Eunice Brewington and Nancy S. Williams; as well as numerous cousins; and special friends, Patricia (Johnny) Stein and their daughter, Amy, of Jefferson, Wendy Mullin of Columbia, and Dr. Sam (Joyce) Catoe of Columbia.
Arrangements were entrusted to Shives Funeral Home.
