RUBY - Richard Stancil, 63, died Sunday, April 24, 2005.

A funeral service was held 6 p. m. Tuesday, April 26 from Cross Roads Baptist Church. Burial followed in Ruby Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Ruby-Mt. Croghan Fire Department, P. O. Box 8, Mt. Croghan, S.C. 29727; Cross Roads Baptist Church, 4963 Cross Roads Church Road, Ruby, S.C. 29741; or Paws and Claws Humane Society, P. O. Box 386, Chesterfield, S.C. 29709.

Born in Mt. Croghan, Mr. Stancil was a son of the late James Woodrow and Grace Monile Horne Stancil. He was vice-president of Carolina Bank in Chesterfield, and served 35 years in the banking industry. Mr. Stancil was a member of the Carolina Bank Advisory Board. He was a charter member and former Chief of Ruby-Mt. Croghan Fire Department with 25 years of active service and was still serving as an honorary member. He was a former member of the S.C. National Guard, a member of the Chesterfield Service Club, Greater Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce, and Ruby Masonic Lodge 314. Mr. Stancil was a former member of the Chesterfield County Economic Development Board. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church where he served in various positions through the years.
