Cheraw police have apprehended two men who robbed the Cash-To-Payday and used duct tape to detain the one employee operating the store last Tuesday.

Nineteen-year-old Herman Little and 21-year-old David Delancy Fate, both of Cheraw, were arrested earlier this week and face charges of strong-arm robbery and kidnapping.

According to Bivens, the two men entered the Cash-To-Payday store located in the Cheraw Plaza shopping center on West Greene Street in Cheraw around 3:30 p.m. They began a conversation with the female employee, then jumped the counter and bound her arms and legs with duct tape. The men put the employee in a closet, locked the front door and ran out the back door with all the money that was in the cash register.

Bivens said it was unknown how much money was in the register at the time of the robbery. None of it has been recovered.

Bivens said the female employee was not injured in the robbery. She was found after the robbery occurred by a neighboring storeowner.

"We take these hostage type situations very seriously," Cheraw Police Chief J.A. Graves said. "Our investigators worked on this case all weekend long until they found the information leading to these arrests."

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the Cheraw Police Department, 537-7868.
