BENNETTSVILLE - Cecil Garland Bowman Sr., 70, died Thursday, July 28, 2005 at his home.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1 from Sandhills Funeral Home and Cremation in Rockingham, N.C. Cremation followed.

Born in Ellerbe, N.C., Mr. Bowman was a son of the late Jiles G. and Rosa Newman Bowman. He was the owner/operator of the family farm.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Annie Mae Graham Bowman; two sons, Cecil Garland (Kip) Bowman Jr., of Rockingham, and Cameron Graham Bowman of Bennettsville; two daughters, Patsy Coble of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Paula Lewis of Laurinburg, N.C.; three sisters, Elizabeth Edwards of Hampstead, N.C., Linda Griggs of Greensboro, N.C., and Mary Ray of Wilmington, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Bowman of Wilmington, and Burton Bowman of Leland, N.C.

Arrangements were entrusted to Sandhills Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
