Investigators from the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department have arrested one of two men thought to be involved in an armed robbery in Pageland Sept. 19.

Forty-four-year-old John Sherman Lee of Dallas, N.C., was arrested Monday morning following a foot chase in Anson County, N.C.

Chesterfield County investigators assisted deputies from Anson County in catching Lee, who reportedly dropped two pistols as he fled.

On Wednesday Lee was being held in the Anson County Detention Center while awaiting a $300,000 bond. He was charged with armed robberies in Chesterfield, Anson and York counties.

According to reports from the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department, Lee and his 23-year-old nephew Michael Scott Crisp, also of Dallas, N.C., entered McCray's Corner Cupboard outside of Pageland around 9 p.m. Sept. 19 and began firing revolvers. They made three customers and two clerks lie down on the floor. The two suspects then forced one of the clerks to open the store's register and a safe.

After stealing several thousand dollars from the register and safe, the two men fled, passing two customers entering the store.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Authorities are still searching for Crisp, who's also wanted in connection with an armed robbery Sept. 13 in Anson County.

Anyone with information concerning Crisp's whereabouts is asked to contact the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department, 623-2101.
