Chesterfield General Hospital has launched a “cyberhospital” with 7,500 pages of health-related articles and interactive tools on a Web site that will help patients manage their health.
Called Discovery Hospital, the Web site is an offering of Discovery Communications, which owns the Discovery Channel. It provides hospitals with online health information, including a medical library on various diseases and conditions, an anatomy explorer, a body mass calculator, explanations of various procedures and tests, nutrition information, a symptom explanation module and health centers.
The Discovery Hospital information can be found at www.chesterfieldgeneral.com.
“At Chesterfield General Hospital, we serve our community by providing quality and comprehensive healthcare services, including health information,” Vance Reynolds, chief executive officer of CGH, said. “There is no doubt that the health tools we are providing through Discovery Hospital enhance our service to patients and help them manage their health. This fast and easy portal provides people the information and tools they need to ensure their families health, which is a wonderful benefit to our community.”
“Using digital assets from across our services on cable as well as the Internet, we are able to leverage the content to provide an important educational service to patients using this Web site,” said Mark Irwin, vice president of operations at Discovery Interactive Media.
