Library staff and career development professionals from Chesterfield, Marlboro and Dillon counties recently visited Northeastern Technical College's Cheraw campus to participate in the first Northeastern Technical College Library Forum.

The event was co-sponsored by NETC and the Northeastern TechPrep Consortium, an organization formed to prepare students for post-secondary education and employment in technologically-related fields

During the workshop, participants discussed current library issues with a focus on patron services and the acquisition and delivery of electronic resources.

They also received materials on identifying and serving multi-generational students and community patrons of library services.

Esther Brunson, NETC head librarian, presented a discussion on providing library resources that promote academic pursuits and career preparation.

“This was a very informative workshop for us,” said Gaye Lamson, ETV coordinator for Chesterfield County Schools.

“Not only did I learn some new ways we can enhance our adult programs, but I also learned of all the great advantages NETC and its library has to offer its students and the entire service area.”
