In 2005 the Chesterfield vs. Cheraw match-up was voted top rivalry in baseball by SC Varsity. The Rams and Braves have combined to win the past four region championships, six district titles, three lower state championship appearances, and two state championship appearances in the past four seasons. The Braves have won the only state championship during this time period, in 2004.
Here are a few of the classic games the Rams and Braves have had in the last four seasons.

The region championship was on the line and the Rams were down 4-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. Evan Sowell reached on an error with two outs to get the rally started for the Rams. Scott Eddins followed with a single and Darryl Rivers was hit by a pitch. Will Gainey singled home two runs to cut the Braves' lead to 4-3. With runners on first and third for the Rams sophomore Dylan Owen steps to the plate and hammers a pitch off the left field wall scoring Houston Taylor and Will Gainey to give the Rams its first region title since 1998. Stuart Rayfield picked up the victory on the mound for the Rams despite having a nose bleed the whole game.
2004 in Chesterfield: Braves 3 Rams 1
The Braves and Rams met in the playoffs to decide who would ultimately advance to the state championship. The two had split the season series. The Rams jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Dylan Owen RBI single scoring Steven Sellers. The Rams could not hold the lead as the Braves had a two run single by Keith Munns in the fifth inning scoring Paul Blackmon and Tommy Grice which gave the Braves a 2-1 lead. The Braves tacked on another run in the sixth and cruised to the 2004 state championship. Tommy Grice picked up the victory for the Braves as he tossed all seven innings completely shutting the Rams down.
