Fine foods, dancing at Taste of Cheraw on Thursday night

Finely-decked men and lovely-dressed woman will stroll throughout Third Street tonight for the 12th annual Taste of Cheraw.

The 300 block of Third Street will be closed for the extravagant evening that is the Cheraw Chamber of Commerce's largest event of the year, drawing some 700 people for fine foods, dancing and socializing.

The main attraction area is at 321 Market Street in the garden area, hosted by Bill and Susan Malloy, said Patsy Hendley, Cheraw Chamber of Commerce president.

That is where guests will delight in all types of food from crab claws, frog legs and oyster shooters to sirloin tips and fried chicken drummettes.

“We're bringing back sushi this year,” Hendley said. “It's a real popular dish.”

Other exotic foods on the menu are bacon-wrapped quail, crab-stuffed shrimp, French-cut lamb chops, caviar on crackers, shrimp and grits, saut
