Born in Robeson County, N.C., Mr. McPhatter was a son of the lace Carl and Cornie Floyd McPhatter. He was a farmer and a retired ambulance driver.
Surviving are a son, Jackie (Norma) McPhatter of Mt. Gilead, N.C.; a daughter, Diane M. Swearengin of Wadesboro, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Matthew Griffin and Chelsee McPhatter.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lennon McPhatter; a granddaughter, Jessica Swearengin; three brothers and a sister.
Arrangements were entrusted to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
