Rayquan Davis, who faces charges of robbing a pizza deliveryman in March, was released on a personal recognizance bond.
Davis, 18, of 805 Wilkes St., Cheraw, was charged with kidnapping and robbery with a deadly weapon. He is accused of robbing a Pizza Hut deliveryman, who was called to make a delivery to the Days Inn on Market Street.
Davis and another suspect confronted the deliveryman, forcing him into the trunk of his car. Unable to drive the manual shift vehicle, they both escaped on foot.
Davis was arrested on June 9 by Cheraw police officers. Since then, he has been released on a $20,000 bond due to health issues.
“Davis was in need of medical attention,” said Keith Thomas of the Cheraw Police Department. “He was released on this bond as an alternative to jail, so he can get the treatment he needed and not cost the taxpayers money.”
He is now on court-ordered house arrest until his trail ends. He is monitored by an ankle bracelet that will alert his probation officer if he leaves without notification. His first appearance in court is scheduled for August 23.
