PATRICK - James Henry “Dee Dee” Grant, 62, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 from the Cheraw Community Center. Burial followed in Ousleydale Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Grant was a son of the late Mary Elizabeth Grant and James Jerry Grant. He graduated from Long High School in 1963 and worked at Crown Cork and Seal in Cheraw for 29 years.

Surviving are three children, Mae West (Thed) Bostic, James Steven (Felicia) Grant and Dana Telanda Grant; the mother of his children, Carrie Grant Bower; a special friend, Nan Rushing; four grandchildren, James Ashley Grant, Michael Taylor Grant, Portia Danielle Grant and Thed Ja'von Bostic; 10 sisters, Mae Esther Fields, Elizabeth (William) Sellers, Shirley L. (Tim) Grant, Treniece Evans, Martha Bradford, Claretta (Smith) Curtis, Hazel Heidt, Willie Mae Watlington, Rebecca Frazier and Arifah Sabari; four brothers, Fuller (Geraldine) Gattison, Ray (Lois) Melton, Nero (Darlene) Grant and Clarence Ernest (Barbara) Grant; 161 nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Sellers, and five brothers, Leory Fountain, Lendward Grant, Jerry Junior Grant, James Quincy Smith and Noah Smith.

Arrangements were entrusted to Grooms Funeral Home.
