A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17 from Grooms Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Reco Johnson, James Shine Jr. and Charles Tillman officiating. Burial followed in Foundry Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Dixon was a daughter of the late Mittie and Dave Michael, and was the widow of Sam Dixon. She attended the public schools of Anson County, N.C. Known as “Ma,” Mrs. Dixon spent her life rearing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affiliated with Lilly Grove Holiness Church and Solid Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving are three children, Mary Shine of Marshville, N.C., Weldon Timmons of Laurinburg, N.C., and Elizabeth Jones of Cheraw; a great-niece, Polly Ann Hill of Cheraw; 57 grandchildren; over 100 great- and great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Geneva Michael of Pageland; and a number of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons; two sisters; and five brothers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Grooms Funeral Home.
