CHESTERFIELD---Incorporating the town's new motto, "Chesterfield-Heart of the Carolinas," the town of Chesterfield has changed the name of its annual fall festival. What was once known as the Old Towne Celebration, the festival is now dubbed CarolinaFest.
CarolinaFest will still have events and activities for all ages. Chesterfield Town Administrator David Huntley says that this year's event will have flavor from different areas of the Carolinas.
"What we're trying to do this year is use our motto to expand our festival to areas outside of just the local residence," Huntley said. "We want to give a flavor, whether it's through the taste or other events, respective of different things throughout the Carolinas. We want to expand the overall focus of our festival."
The festival begins Sept. 28 and will continue through Oct. 7. The events include an art exhibit, the CarolinaFest Rodeo, Carolinas Sweetheart Pageant and the Mountain Dew Kidsfest to name a few.
Oct. 6 will serve as the day of all the main events for CarolinaFest. Events will begin at 6 a.m. with the Carolina Harvest Breakfast at the Chesterfield Rescue Squad Building. There will be a range of events throughout the day and entertainment will be provided on the Entertainment Stage at the Chesterfield Visitors Center.
"I think we've got something for just about everyone throughout the duration of the festival," Huntley said. "There are going to be time where people can find just about anything they like. Hopefully everyone can come and experience things that are a little bit different as well."
Donna Curtis, a long with the help of the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce board, put the event schedule together to make this year's festival unlike any other. Huntley commends Curtis and the chamber on their efforts.
"I think Donna did a really good job putting things together with the help of the chamber board," Huntley said. "They have really put a lot of time and effort into making this event a success."
