Revelation 3:20-21

V.21: Behold I stand at the door, and knock; If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

V.22: To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my father in his throne.

Revelation was written by John the Apostle between A.D. 90 and 96 on the island of Patmos to the seven churches in Asia Minor (modern Turkey).

Its purpose is because it is the "revelation" of Jesus Christ as given to the Apostle John. It is also called the "Apocalypse" which means "revelation" or "unveiling."

"Listening with the heart"

I can just imagine this scripture in my mind. Can you imagine Jesus standing outside your door knocking, or in today's world, ring your doorbell? That is the ultimate thought! I would open the door and let Him in and treat Him like a king. Why? Because Jesus Christ is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, as God's word tells us. This is an example of the beauty of the imagination God gives us. I would have loved to have lived during the times that Jesus walked the earth like He did with the Apostles. Just the thought of being to able to touch His hand or look upon His face to see the true compassion in His eyes, amazes me.

However, the scripture is speaking of Christ knocking on the door of our hearts. If we allow God the opportunity to come into our hearts to live, then we will have a heavenly home with Him. We all have a picture of what Heaven will be like for all Christians, who have accepted Jesus Christ as his or her Savior.

As for me, I see Jesus Christ sitting on His throne next to God, His Heavenly Father. I picture walls of jasper and beautiful gemstones. I see a crystal clear river of life flowing, and the actual streets are made of pure gold. Loved ones who have passed away who were Christians will be waiting for me. Heaven is real and it is a beautiful place. There will be no more sadness, no sorrow, no mourning, no tears, no sickness, no worries, no doubts, no fears, and no more troubles. Heaven does not need sunshine because Jesus is the light, and no darkness will ever fall. Wow! Who would NOT want to go to a place like that?

This beautiful truth was revealed to John in Revelation. God in turn has revealed the same scenario and truth in our lives today. The point is that a lot of people and things change in our lifetime, but Jesus Christ and His word never changes. He is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. He is our guiding star and our hope.

This week, try to imagine this picture of Heaven with you in it. Then try to imagine Heaven without you in it. How does the latter make you feel? I believe it is a scary thought to not walk beside Jesus. For I know that Jesus surely walks with me. He will walk with you only if you let Him; all you need to do is ask.
