The Cheraw Chronicle & The Chesterfield Advertiser sent questionnaires to the two candidates running for mayor of Cheraw. Each agreed to answer seven questions on a number of topics. These are their responses.

CHARLIE

ROSE

What changes do you plan to make for the Town of Cheraw if elected Mayor?

I plan to improve and support public safety (police and fire), and emergency preparedness, promote growth and economic development. I plan to have more recreational activities for the children, teens, adults and seniors.

What is the first thing on your agenda the day after the election is over as far as the first step in your new career?

I plan to formally thank my campaign staff and citizens for electing me to this new position. I want to meet as many of the town employees as possible. I will let them know how much I am looking forward to working with each of them. Importantly, I will pray to God to give me the strength, wisdom, and direction to be a great mayor for all of the people of Cheraw.

Do you plan to have more scheduled planning meetings with council members than held in the past?

I plan to schedule any meetings on a needed basis to help keep council informed as much as possible.

How do you feel about the Wellness Center and the YMCA project?

At this point, I favor the Wellness Center because we have an excellent recreational department. However, in making the final decision, we must consider cost and funding.

What are your ideas about The Legends at Cheraw Active Adult Community planning to be built in Cheraw?

I like the idea of the Legends at Cheraw Adult Active Community being located in Cheraw. It will certainly bring more residents and more jobs to Cheraw. It will also help to support and serve the people. However, we must make sure that the overall project will be positive.

Do you plan to raise any taxes?

I have no immediate plans to raise taxes, however should a situation arise we would consider it with the full participation of the town council and the citizens of Cheraw.

Where would you like to see Cheraw as far as growth and community services?

I would like to see Cheraw to continue to grow in population to supplement our economy and make it stronger. Community services should be based on the needs of the community. If elected mayor, I promise to work hard on a "full-time" basis to provide the best service and the quality of life equally to all citizens here in Cheraw. I also promise that my administration will be open, available, honest, and fair to all of our citizens.

God bless each and every one of you.
