The Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic And Sexual Assault will hold free volunteer training sessions beginning March 3-7, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at 339 Page Street in Chesterfield.
"Guest speakers from all over South Carolina and various government departments will be there to educate the volunteers on various topics of domestic violence and sexual assault," said Sheila Hall, Chesterfield County Coordinator for the Pee Dee Coalition. Some of the speakers will include the Chesterfield County Police Department, Safe House Director Alma Hill, DSS speaker and the Children's Dorrance Center in Florence, will be present to assist in the training.
"The free training will help those who want to become volunteers prepare to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault," said Hall.
According to Hall, after a volunteer completes the training, he/she will be able to work at Safe House and work the 24-hour crisis line as well.
The free sessions are open to the public. Light snacks and lunch will be served on the first day of training. Please contact Sheila Hall at 843-623-7364, or send Email to sawe@peedeecoalition.org.
