Patrick Men Charged in Fraud Indictment

COLUMBIA - Acting United States Attorney Kevin F. McDonald stated that George Andrew Love, age 61, and Larry Franklin Horton, age 0, both of Patrick, were charged in a 1-count indictment on March 25, 2008, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, mail fraud and health care fraud, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1349. The maximum penalty the defendants could receive is a fine of $1,000,000 and/or imprisonment of 20 years.

Mr. McDonald stated that the case was investigated by agents of the South Carolina Department of health and human services, South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and Federal Bureau of Investigation and that he has assigned the case to Assistant United States Attorney William E. Day, II of the Florence office for prosecution.

The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
