(KANNAPOLIS, N.C.) Mr. James Walter “Son” Gibson, 73, died Nov. 30, 2008.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Dec. 3, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Gibson was born Oct. 15, 1935 a son of the late John C. “Lummie” and Bertha Cleo Kirkley Gibson. He was a retired employee of Cannon Mills and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Gibson was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and attended Liberty Baptist Church. Son was married to the late Sara Griggs Gibson and was also preceded in death by three brothers, J. Harold, Ronnie, and Theron “Bate” Gibson; and by four sisters, Jean Rhynes, Genora Faile, Brenda Gibson, and Clara Gibson.

Surviving is a son, James Michael (Susan) Gibson of China Grove, N.C.; a daughter, Debbie (Charlie) Gushue of Hoganville, Ga.; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Shera, Sonia, Amanda, and Charlie; two great-grandchildren, Eli and Payton; two brothers, John “Jimmy” (Bonnie Jean) Gibson of Chesterfield and Robert L. (Lib) Gibson of Spartanburg; three sisters, Bobbie (Bobby Jule) Gulledge of Concord, N.C., Betty (Billy) Sellers of Cheraw, and Gail (Tom) Cassidy of Chesterfield

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
