Cassie Christine Thurman and Leslie Neil Davis were united in marriage Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Ruby Baptist Church at five thirty in the afternoon. The Reverend James Ronald Thurman, father of the bride, and the Reverend Ralph Jacobs officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Reverend and Mrs. James Ronald Thurman of Ruby. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jule Smith, of Cheraw, and Mildred G. Thurman of Ruby, the late Knox Thurman and the late Nell Moore Thurman. She is a 2003 graduate of Chesterfield High School and a 2007 Winthrop University graduate with a degree in Elementary Education. Cassie taught four years in Lancaster and Chesterfield County School Districts. Presently she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Francis Marion University.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Farron Davis of Chesterfield. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Davis of Chesterfield, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sutton of Ruby. He is a 2001 graduate of Chesterfield High School and a 2006 graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He is employed as a State Trooper by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a romantic Maggie Setera designed ball gown with a sweetheart neckline and corset back. The blissful tulle, adorned with soft lace motifs, cascaded from her waist into a chapel length train. The taffeta bodice was complete with couture pleating to complete the romantic modern style. To finish the look, the bride wore a soft fingertip veil with a touch of beading to complement the dress. She carried a bouquet of contrasting shades of pink and ivory roses, fushia stargazers, and lilies. Stems were wrapped in ivory satin adorned with an antique keepsake butterfly pin which belonged to her paternal grandmother.
Maid of honor was Mabra O’Neal, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Ashley Renee Chapman, Erin Paige Curran, Rebecca Elizabeth Fisher, Ashley Rae Huneycutt, Alex Rhea Langdale, Kristen Leigh Sellers, and Lindsey Ann Stewart, all friends of the bride.
Best man was Kenneth Davis, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Micheal Robert Davis, and Jonathan Heath Davis, brothers of the groom, along with Jason Daniel Vick, cousin of the groom, Zachary Harrison Smith, Timothy Lee Hunt, Christopher William Stancil, and Samuel Clay Breisch. Ring bearer was Luke Cameron Davis, nephew of the groom.
A program of wedding classics was selected by the bride and groom. Soloist and musician, Jake Gulledge, sang “We Will Dance” and “When God Made You”. Jake composed special music for the song “Our Wedding Prayer”. The song lyrics consisted of prayers written by Cassie and Leslie for each other. Scripture reader was the Reverend Chul Yoo, friend of the groom.
Katherine Sides was their wedding director. Mr. & Mrs. David Brigman and Mr. & Mrs. Trey Gaskins served as registry and program attendants. Mr. & Mrs. David Lamson greeted guests at the reception held at Hopewell Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
After a honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas, the couple now resides in Chesterfield, S.C.
