Former United States Congressman John Spratt has endorsed Ted Vick‘s campaign to represent the newly formed 7th Congressional District in South Carolina.
Spratt was elected to Congress in 1982 and served until last year. Spratt’s district included many counties that are now in the 7th district. Counties Spratt represented now in the 7th district include Chesterfield, Marlboro, Dillon, Darlington, and parts of Florence.
In making his endorsement, Spratt cited Vick’s experience, work ethic and track record of obtaining positive results.
“I’m proud to endorse Ted Vick for Congress today,” Spratt said. “I’ve known Ted for years and know firsthand what a hard worker he is. Whether it’s through his service in the military, as a minister, or as a state legislator, Ted has a proven record of getting results and he knows how to work with all sides. Ted will be a tenacious advocate for his district, this state and our country. He will be a congressman we can all be proud of.”
Vick, a current state lawmaker from Chesterfield, described Spratt’s endorsement as an honor.
“Having the support of Congressman Spratt really means a lot to me,” said Vick. “He is a true statesman and has done as much for South Carolina as anyone has,” Vick said. “My goal as a member of Congress is to be the kind of respected statesman who works hard for the people back home just like John Spratt.”
