Thomas Watson, a member of Chesterfield County 4-H, recently won a blue ribbon and 1st place overall at the Pee Dee Regional Presentations contest held in Marion.

As a result of winning the Regional Competition, Watson went on to compete in the State 4-H Presentations contest held in Columbia on May 5, 2012. At this competition he received a red ribbon for his presentation. His presentation focused on Safety when Hunting.

The 4-H Presentations Program provides youth with activities and tools that teach them how to research, plan, organize, create, and deliver a presentation. Through a positive learning environment, 4-H youth develop effective public speaking skills and are able to practice and perform these skills with confidence.

The 4-H Presentations contest allows participants the opportunity to practice their presentations skills and receive valuable feedback. This is a very important skill that all youth need to learn.

Thomas did an outstanding job and represented Chesterfield County and Chesterfield County 4-H well by preparing and delivering an excellent presentation, 4-H leaders said. Thomas is the son of Jakie and Betty Lynn Watson on Chesterfield.
