Kenneth Hudson “Hud” Smith, 63, of Cheraw, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 3, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Cheraw.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will follow in the Chesterfield cemetery.
Mr. Smith was the son of Elizabeth Davis Smith and the late Jule Smith. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Angela McDuffie Smith. They shared a wonderful marriage and partnership for almost 35 years. His family was his top priority, and he had an immense loyalty and love for his wife and sons. He was a loving caregiver to his parents, an amazing brother and devoted friend.
He is also survived by his sons, Kenneth Hudson Smith II of Cheraw, Zachary Harrison Smith of Myrtle Beach and Eddie Moore of Cumming, Ga.; a grandson, Grady Moore; his brother, Jule Garreth Smith of Isle of Palms; sisters, Phyllis Smith Silva of Lexington and Sherri Smith Thurman and her husband, Rev. Ronald Thurman of Ruby.
Mr. Smith was a man of charismatic personality, who enjoyed people. He was an avid Gamecock supporter. He was known for his impressive athletic ability in high school and beyond. He enjoyed beach music and golf with friends.
Hud was a man of perseverance, endurance, and tolerance. He had an outstanding work ethic, and was a master handyman. He willingly gave of his time for others. A man of great stature, he had a soft and caring heart.
He was employed formerly by CP&L as a lineman, and was a supporting member of the Country Kitchen Team in Cheraw.
