Dear Editor,

America, turn back to God.

In this confusing world we live in today, one cannot help to think that time is at hand for Christ’s return. We see signs of His coming daily. When we turn on the news, drive down the streets of home, near or far, hear hungry children cry out for food, and poverty covers what what is supposed to be one of the “richest nation, America.”

Personally, I try to find positive in all things, but there are a lot of things where no positive exists. There is nothing positive except the love of God and the life we live as Christians. Please know readers, I am not judging anyone or anything.

As you all know, it is just the way things are today. I can’t imagine waking up each morning to hear gun shots and fighting in the streets 24-hours a day, like in other countries.

Can you imagine this happening in Cheraw or Society Hill, or Florence, or any other town or state? It breaks my heart to hear about the thousands of unborn babies are aborted and disposed of. It is as if they were a piece of old rag that wasn’t needed in the first place. I know it is wrong for that to happen, but we should be praying for those young mothers who feel they have no where else to go. They, as well as all people who are lost, need prayer and hope.

As a Christian, I feel that it is time for all Christians to take a stand for what we know is right. Even most importantly, what we know is real. God is real, Heaven is real, sin is real, life is real, and Hell and death are real.

So my question is, “Why do people, including me, sometimes pretend to live in a “make believe” world that does not really exist? We are only human. Being a Christian does not make us perfect, but Christianity does provide us the opportunity to become the person God intended us to be while on earth. I am no expert by any means, but I believe God’s word.

Today, we live in a nation that tells us it is alright to live against God’s law. When does it stop? Why is it alright? Because congress and legislature says so? Why is it OK to be married to the same sex? Is it because laws passed that says so? NO. It doesn’t matter to me how many laws pass, or how many signatures go on a bill, it is NOT OK, according to God’s word. I do not judge people by his or her lifestyle, but as all Americans, we have the right to voice our opinions. I am speaking out to other Christians to let our voices be heard in Washington, DC.

In 2009, My husband and I went to Washington, DC on vacation. I was enjoying my trip and then I saw what I didn’t really expect.I was shocked to see the numerous homeless people lying on the streets at night and during the daytime, not only in the park, but just two blocks away from our “great White House.”

Speak up Americans, wake up Christians. It is time for us to stop looking at our lives, and “Christianity” through rose-colored glasses. To see the clear picture of what I am trying to get across, just take time to kneel and pray each day. No, we can’t change things ourselves, but prayer can. Pray for this nation to turn back to God, for our children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They are the ones who will suffer this world after we are gone one day. Life used to be simple, but now it is hard because we make it like that. Sometimes, we are our own worst enemy.

Have a heart-to-heart talk with God and remember our military and veterans who fought for the freedom of all. God will see us through it all if we just have enough faith to move a grain of mustard seed.
