“We were very pleased with the number of employees who were willing to give the gift of life,” said Cathy Parker, human resource coordinator for INA Schaeffler. The company held its annual blood drive June 13, collecting 181 units of blood.
“This was the biggest industrial collection day in the area,” said Chasity Humphries, blood drive coordinator for the South Carolina Red Cross Association. “We have to collect 500 units of blood a day to fulfill our hospitals needs in South Carolina,” said Humphries. “We appreciate everyone at Schaeffler for taking the time to help others.”
Humphries credited Parker, and Phil Homan, human resource director for INA Schaeffler, for their efforts in coordinating the blood drive for Plants 1, 2 and 5. “We usually have at least one large drive each year, and sometimes we’ll schedule more,” said Parker. “We’ll be looking at hosting another drive at Schaeffler by the end of the year.”
