The Chesterfield Arts Commission teamed up with Gilbert King, owner of The Bank of Chesterfield Restaurant and Bar, to host a Wine & Design event for local artists last Thursday evening. Participants worked with acrylic paints on canvas, provided at no charge, while enjoying the company of other artists and a glass of wine in the historical, lofty atmosphere of the recently renovated building on Main Street.
The group plans to continue to offer the Wine & Design event on a monthly basis; the third Thursday of every month. Participating artists also received a gift for the evening. The token gift included their choice of one of the cut glass colored vases used for table decoration, and as part of a set up for a painting; or a donated painting from contributing artists.
Creating this sort of atmosphere for local artist is a sample of how Jamie Barfield, chairperson for the Chesterfield Arts Commission, said she plans to mix things up a little for those in the community interested in the arts.
According to Barfield, the Chesterfield Arts Commission and the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce will soon be joining forces to restructure the organization. The group’s next event will focus on children’s art and will be hosted at the Chesterfield YMCA the second week of July.
