Bazil Allen Rivers of Chesterfield passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, June 13, at 3 p.m. at Flemming Funeral Chapel in Chesterfield with The Reverend Napoleon Zinnerman officiating. Burial followed in the Chesterfield Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Rivers, daughter of the late Curtis and Ola Rivers Allen, was born on May 19, 1931, in Chesterfield. Raised in a Christian home, Bazil was the youngest of six children. She attended the public schools in Marshville, N.C. Bazil was married to the late Vander T. Rivers Sr. and to this union a son was born, the late Vander T. Rivers Jr. She was employed for thirty two years with the Long Island Jewish Hospital as a cook and mental illness practitioner.
Bazil never met a stranger and she was loved by all that knew her. She was a very caring and a humble woman who was always willing to help her neighbors and friends.
Left to cherish her fond memories: four grandsons, Raheen Rivers of New York, Terrell Burch, Daniel Burch and Nathaniel Burch of Chesterfield; a brother-in-law, Lonnie Murvin, of Chesterfield; two sisters-in-law, Martha R. Sellers of Chesterfield and Montrose B. Allen of Salisbury, N.C.; a very special great niece, Jazamine Henry, New York; a special friend and mother of her grandsons, Linda (Ray) Little of Chesterfield; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
