On Wednesday, July 11, at 9:30 p.m., Southern Hops Brewing Company in Florence will kick off its monthly professional stand-up comedy series with South Carolina native MG Gaskin, and opening act Cooter Douglas.

Each show in the series will feature two new nationally-touring, professional comedians.

MG Gaskin’s show is a high-energy medley of original observations and clever self-criticism with his own brand of southern flavor. The best part of MG’s show is that it can work anywhere because it is clean. Now MG is thriving as a comedian, with performance credits including the New Orleans Comedy Festival “Comedy Town Project,” headlining the current “Country Comedy Tour” and appearing on radio shows such as the Rick and Bubba show and the T and A Morning Show. Also, he can be heard regularly on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Opening act, Cooter Douglas, started his comedy career by winning the Open Mic at The Comedy Cabana in 2007 and has been making people laugh ever since. He grew up in Charlotte, N.C., and now lives in North Myrtle Beach. His comedy looks at life and current events from a very Southern perspective, with a twang. His life lessons come from being a bartender, rugby player, electrician, and his current job as an assistant weed eater for the city.

Arriving early is recommended as seating is on a first come, first serve basis. The show will begin promptly at 9:30 p.m. For more information call 843-667-1900 or visit Southern Hops Brewing Company’s website at http://southernhops.com/.
