Malboro County has been invaded with 178 Salkehatchie Summer Mission Workers.

These young men and women are working constantly on painting homes, replacing roofs, floors, doors, windows, ramps and windows in efforts of restoring and revitalizing homes of persons that are undeserved and marginalized. The persons that are serving Salkehatchie summer mission workers represent United Methodist Churches across the South Carolina Conference.

Several churches from Marlboro County provided a southern style menu on July 5.

Members of the mission team said they were grateful for the leadership of Mrs. Nell Kenley, director of the Ladies-in-White, coordinating the fellowship meal effort. The ecumenical efforts include the assistance of several Bennettsville area churches. The team is also thankful to First United Methodist Church for hosting the event.

These churches have adopted John Wesley’s philosophy of life, “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”
