Steven Paul “Steve” Benton, 58, died Saturday, July 28, 2012.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Benton was born July 4, 1954, in Ft. Bragg, N.C., a son of Paul Lester and Velma Elizabeth Smith Benton. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and attended Chesterfield-Marlboro TEC, and was a former textile employee. Steve was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church and was a Mason. He was a former assistant coach with Dixie Youth Baseball. Steve was an avid Clemson Tiger fan, and enjoyed fishing and NASCAR racing.

Survivors include his parents, Paul L. and Velma Smith Benton of Chesterfield; a brother, Thomas Benton of Chesterfield; a sister, Elizabeth Benton Norton of Chesterfield; a niece, Cassi Norton and a nephew, Julian Norton, both of Chesterfield.

Memorials may be made to the Chesterfield Baptist Church “Window Fund” 207 East Main Street, Chesterfield, S.C.
