William Melvin “Bill” Donahue, 82, died Thursday, July 26, 2012.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel in Chesterfield. Interment followed in the White Oak Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the funeral home.
Mr. Donahue was born May 21, 1930, in Union County, N.C., a son of the late William Jesse and Ivy Beatrice Melton Donahue. He was a retired farmer and a member of Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by three brothers, Burris and Lance Donahue, and Tite Melton; and by two sisters, Emma Jean Knight and Lydia Ann Donahue.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth Pigg Donahue of the home; four daughters, Susan (Lester) Tarlton and Patricia (Ed) Funderburk, both of Jefferson, Tammy (Jerry) Plyler of Lancaster and Joyce Williams of Kershaw; 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; three sisters, Gaynell Leaird of Pageland, Faye Ruth Knight of Virginia and Jamie Melton of Rock Hill.
