The Cheraw Chronicle and Chesterfield Advertiser is your community newspaper. One of the ways we involve ourselves is by running the events and happenings of the community in our weekly calendar. Send us your event listing no later than noon the Monday prior to publication (Thursday) and we will list your event in the newspaper. There is no charge for most event listings. ADULT VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE REGISTRATION (CO-ED)

WHERE: Registration by email

WHAT: Volleyball league play will start in September and run through October. League games will be played on Wednesdays. You must have 6 players on your team. Games will be played at Long Middle School and/or Cheraw High School gyms. Team Fee is $150 and a late registration fee is $35. BACK TO SCHOOL BASH – WALLACE ELEMENTARY MIDDLE SCHOOL

WHEN: Thursday, Aug. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m.

WHERE: Wallace Elementary Middle School on Hwy 9 in Wallace

WHAT: We will kick-off the new year with a “block party” on our school lawn. Students will have an opportunity to meet new teachers, find out information about the coming school year, and celebrate a new beginning. WHAT: The 2nd annual Blue Jay Festival will begin on Saturday, Oct. 6, with a softball tournament and the Miss Blue Jay Pageant. Festivities will continue Friday, Oct. 12, through Saturday, Oct. 13, with Jefferson’s Got Talent, 5K Run/Walk, the Blue Jay Parade and ending with a dance on Saturday night. DIZZY GILLESPIE SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT

WHAT: Each year the Dizzy Gillespie Scholarship Golf Tournament is held the third week of October, in conjunction with the Cheraw Jazz Festival. The organizations primary goal is to help students of Chesterfield County attend schools of higher education. “MEET THE PIONEERS” FALL WALKING TOUR
