Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Ben Fleming, United States Coast Guard, was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the National Naval Officers Association (NNOA) for his distinguished service in support of the goals of the NNOA while serving as the New Orleans, La., Chapter President.

NNOA actively supports the Sea Services (Navy, Marine Corp and Coast Guard) in the development of a diverse officer corps through recruitment, retention, and career development. NNOA is essential in maintaining operational readiness by providing professional development, mentoring, and support of cultural awareness. NNOA establishes and maintains a positive image of the Sea Services in communities and educational institutions.

LCDR Fleming is a 1993 graduate of Cheraw High School and the son of Linda James Chapman of Cheraw.
