The Chesterfield County Economic Development Board announced recently that Chesterfield County now has improved the odds that an industry will find a site on the western side of Chesterfield County attractive. The 22-acre industrial site, located next to the Walmart Distribution Center on Highway 601 in Pageland, is ready to go.
The County Economic Development office now has construction-ready plans in hand for a 50,000-square-foot speculative building ready to be built on the “shovel ready” Lynches River site. A wetlands assessment, Phase I environmental site assessment, threatened and endangered species assessment, a cultural resources reconnaissance survey and a geotechnical assessment have been done.
The building design and site work was funded by a grant from USDA, matched by Lynches River Electric Cooperative.
“Having a site ready for development is crucial for future economic growth to occur,” said Pageland Mayor Brian Hough. “Pageland will certainly benefit from the economic stimulus that new jobs provide when a new industry locates in the industrial park. I want to thank Lynches River Electric Cooperative for the financial commitment they have made to this project.”
“Economic development is very important to Chesterfield County and having this site ready will make us more prepared,” said Eddie Rivers, Chesterfield County Councilman.
Councilman Gerald Miller said that “this will add another option for business growth in our county.”
“The location located on the newly opened 4-lane 601/151 corridor will open new opportunities for development,” said David Altman, President and CEO of the Lynches River Electric Cooperative. “We look forward to working with Chesterfield County in bringing this site on-line and marketing it to create jobs.”
