The grand finale of the summer concert series at the Lakeside Music Room will feature the GalFriday Band, a musical trio from Charlotte, N.C., who describe their music as “an irreverent marriage of country, southern rock and newgrass.” The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be presented at the boat dock shelter by the water at Cheraw State Park on Friday, Aug. 31, at 7:15 p.m.

The Oyster Bar of Cheraw will provide food and drinks that will be available for purchase from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The concert is scheduled to end at 9. p.m.

“The inaugural season of the Lakeside Music Room has attracted hundreds of people and the attention of local and regional media,” said Dyland Sneed, a representative of Artsville and organizer of the concert series.

“This joint effort from Cheraw State Park, Pee Dee Outfitters, and Artsville is the result of a successful fund-raising campaign through Kickstarter.com,” he said. All of the money needed to present the four concerts, in each of the summer months, was raised during the spring of the year through personal and commercial donations.

Lauren Wilson, Melissa York and Ashely Min are the three young women who make up the awarding winning band set to play Friday. According to the group’s Facebook page, “Gal Friday Band Won the 2009 Interstate 107 Colgate Country Showdown and went on to compete in the 2009 Colgate Country Showdown Regional where we placed 3rd behind the National Winner, Karla Davis.” Their music is said to combine “Daddy’s bluegrass” with “Momma’s hymn book.”

More information about the group is available on Facebook. For more information on the concert series visit lakesidemusicroom.com.
