RUBY — Mary Alice Covington Cash, 70, died Aug. 22, 2012

Funeral services were Aug. 26 at Rock Springs Baptist Church

Cash, daughter of late Thomas Covington and the late Geneva Melton Church, entered the world on June 6, 1942. During her journey here on earth Mary or “Mause” as her family and close friends called her was educated in Chesterfield County school system.

She married the late Horace June cash and of this union the couple was blessed with six children, two preceded her in death; Baby Ronnie Cash and Mr. Willie Detroit Cash.

Cash leaves her daughters to carry on her wonderful legacy. Ollivee Melton of Ruby, S.C., Tonnette Cash of Charlotte, N.C., Shelia Cash of Cheraw, S.C., and Coletha Hooks of Cheraw. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was also the mother-in-law to Mr. Anthony Hooks of Cheraw, and Ms. Wanda Cash of Columbia, S.C.

She leaves to cherish eight siblings; Gracie Lee Melton of Chesterfield, S.C., Charles Webster (Judy Miller) of Monroe, N.C., James Clinton Melton (Nellie Mae Nivens) of Mt. Croghan, S.C., Gerald Ray Melton (Hattie) of Pageland, S.C., Gloria Little of Charlotte, Mary Melton of Mt. Croghan, Ronnie Melton of Pageland, and Florence Melton of Mt. Croghan, three sister-in-laws; Teresa Fletcher, Mildred Ratliff and Louise Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was a wonderful friend to all but two had a very special place in her heart, her special friends Mr. Moses Walls and Ms. Lorraine Bridges both of whom she cherished with all her heart.

Flemming Funeral Home served the family.
