John Calvin “J. C.” Brown, 85, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Elliott White Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
A funeral service was held 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield. Interment followed in the Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sept. 26, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Brown was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Jefferson, a son of the late Archie and Emma Sue Hancock Brown. He traveled the United States for 59 years as a painting contractor, and retired at 74. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Brown Evans, a granddaughter, Teresa Marie Kimbrell, by two brothers, Pete and Bobby Brown, and by sisters, Helen B. Jordan and Doris Brown.
Survivors include one son, John C. (Addie Mae) Brown Jr. of Fort Mill, three daughters, Jackie (C.C.) Munsey of Fort Mill, Linda (Gerald) Kimbrell of Rock Hill, and Joan Carol Tritt of Augusta, Ga., one sister, Irene B. Price of Jefferson, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Elliott White Springs Memorial Hospital and the staff of White Oak Manor, both in Lancaster, and also to a special friend and roommate at White Oak Manor, Sonny Deese.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
