The deadlines for registering to vote and for absentee voting requests are fast approaching, but there is still time.
For anyone not registered to vote, the voter registration form must be completed and postmarked on or before Oct. 6, 2012. The law requires voters to register 30 days before the general election, which is Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.
You can complete the request for an absentee ballot application online, or you can contact the Chesterfield County Voter’s Registration Office at 843-623-2265, and ask them to mail you an absentee ballot application.
Once the absentee ballot application is completed and returned, the absentee ballot is then mailed to the voter. The deadline for submitting an absentee ballot application is not until 5 p.m. Nov. 2. However, it is not recommended one wait that long because the completed absentee ballot must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
