Hoyt Funderburk, 91, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at his home.
Services were held Sept. 26 at Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Pageland.
Funderburk was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on July 6, 1921, to the late Arthur Henderson and Katie Lee Funderburk. He was educated in the Chesterfield County school system. Funderburk served in the U.S. Military and was employed by Perfection Spinning Mills in Belmont, N.C., where he retired after many years of service. Funderburk was a life long member of Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Lockhart Funderburk; two sons, Christopher Funderburk and Kirby Ray Massey; two brothers, Chester Funderburk and Herbert Funderburk; a sister, Delores Funderburk; and a grandson, Dominique Funderburk.
Funderburk is survived by nine sons, Richard Lockhart (Cloie), Wilbert Nicholson (Shirley), Kirk Nivens, Michael Funderburk, Ricky Funderburk (Varnestine), Jerry Funderburk, Hoyt Funderburk Jr., Randy Funderburk, Tracy Funderburk (Tameka); three daughters, Janie Lockhart Blackwell, Ayanna Foust and Alycia Foust; six sisters, Mary Francis Bridges, Betty Blakney, Emma Jean Wall, Hattie Moore, Ina Henderson and Kathryn Funderburk; four brothers, Guy Funderburk, James Funderburk, Ray Funderburk and Dock Funderburk; forty-six grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
