2012 POLITICAL FORUM

SENIOR HEALTH EXPO

WHEN: Friday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to Noon

WHERE: Senior Circle Center, 914 Chesterfield Hwy, beside Country Kitchen.

WHAT: Adults over 55 are invited to attend this free event that will include health information, local physicians and organizations, $25 flu shots, blood pressure screening and more. Information presented is especially for seniors. The event is being presented by Senior Circle, Healthy Woman and Chesterfield General Hospital.

JEFFERSON 2ND ANNUAL BLUE JAY FESTIVAL

WHEN: Oct. 12 and 13

WHERE: Downtown Jefferson

WHAT: The 2nd annual Blue Jay Festival will begin on Saturday, Oct. 6, with a softball tournament and the Miss Blue Jay Pageant. Festivities will continue Friday, Oct. 12, through Saturday, Oct. 13, with Jefferson’s Got Talent, 5K Run/Walk, the Blue Jay Parade and ending with a dance on Saturday night. Events for the entire family to enjoy such as karaoke, a corn hole tournament, a shag contest, a car and bike show along with many other children’s activities.

FREE WORSHIP GOES PINK

DIZZY GILLESPIE SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT

WHAT: Each year the Dizzy Gillespie Scholarship Golf Tournament is held the third week of October, in conjunction with the Cheraw Jazz Festival. The organizations primary goal is to help students of Chesterfield County attend schools of higher education. 3rd ANNUAL CAR, TRUCK & BIKE WEEKEND

WHAT: Registration begins at 9 am and is $20 for each vehicle entry. Judging begins at 12:30pm with trophies awarded at 2:00pm for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each class pre 1981 Cars & Trucks, 1982 +, Hot rod/Custom, and Motorcycles. There will also be special awards for Best of Show, Pastor’s Choice and First Lady’s Choice. “MEET THE PIONEERS” FALL WALKING TOUR

WHAT: Come and join us for our 1st annual “Meet the Pioneers” Fall Cemetery Walking Tour at Foundry Hill Cemetery. WHAT: The theme of this year’s parade is “Every Day is a Gift.” Churches, civic groups and businesses are encouraged to enter “homemade” floats with lighting being encouraged. Best float prizes will be awarded as follows: grand prize - $300, second place - $200 and third place - $100. The grand prize winner will also receive a trophy to keep until next year’s parade.
