Cheraw State Park is joining forces with the Town of Cheraw in hosting a free outdoor movie, complete with popcorn, smores and plenty of fresh air. The event begins at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, by the waterfront.

The entire family is welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to settle in for the evening, said Mark Davies, director of the Cheraw State Park. “We’ll have a fire pit going for roasting marshmallow’s and making smores by 6 o’clock,” said Davies. “The movie will begin around 6:30 p.m.”

Showing on a 9’ x 16’ screen will be the movie “Monster House.” The Merchants Association of Cheraw will be selling popcorn during the movie. Supplies for making smores will be provided at no cost, “as long as they last,” said Davies. Guests are invited to bring their own supplies for smores, including wire hangers or sticks for roasting.

This event is part of an “on going effort,” said Davies, between the town and the park system, to promote the local facilities.
