Richard Hough Jr., 71, of Darien, Ga., died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Southeast Georgia Health System.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 3 p.m., at Flemming Funeral Home in Chesterfield.

Richard Hough Jr. was born in Chesterfield County, Jan. 22, 1941, to Richard Hough Sr., and Cassie Bell Cash Hough. He joined Davidson Grove Baptist Church, Chesterfield, as a young man. Hough also started his military career at a young age. He was presented many awards and commendations, a list of certificates, including The Bronze Star. Hough was an accomplished member of the Freemasons, and also a very proud member of The Christian Men’s Fellowship. After settling in Darien, Ga., Hough joined St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church. He worked as a postman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. R. L. Hough; his first wife, Lottie Bell Lowery Hough; brothers Jerry and Willie Lee Hough; and sons Richard and Ricky Hough.

He is survived in life by a wife, January Hough; children, Priscilla (Avery) Lewis; Cassie (Kal Robinson); Tina (Rickey Blackmon); Regina (Ross Short); Alvin and LaShawnda. He is also survived by his mother, Cassie Bell Hough; sisters, Peggy Myers (Clerow) of Ruby; Susie Mae Hough of Baltimore, Md.; Dr. Naomi H. Davis (Norman) of Chesterfield, Va.; Eunice Ann Hough of Hartsville; Dr. A. Lois Hough-Everage (Eugene) of Oak Hills, Calif.; brothers, John Perry (Tina) of Baltimore, Md.; and Emanuel (Lorine) of Chesterfield. He also has eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Flemming Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
