A traffic crash on Tuesday, Dec. 4, claimed the life of a teenager, according to the SC Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Troy Road, right off McGregor Street in Pageland, S.C.

Elonte’A Meadows, 18, from Pageland, was driving a 1996 Toyota southbound on Troy Road when he ran off the left side of the road, over-corrected the vehicle, came back across and hit a tree on the right side on the road, the Highway Patrol reported. Also, it was found that neither the passenger nor the driver had a seat-belt on at the time of the accident.

The passenger involved, Aliscia Thomas, 16, of Pageland, was pronounced dead at the scene, lawmen said. The driver, Meadows, was transported to CMC Union in Monroe, N.C. There were no further details on the condition of the driver. The accident remains under investigation.

In an unrelated traffic crash, a 60-year-old Chesterfield man, C.L. Redfearn, was killed in the early morning of Nov. 28 on Teal’s Mill Road, about a mile and a half south of Chesterfield.

According SC Highway Patrol Officer Billy Elder, “The victim was a pedestrian and was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Although the incident is still under investigation, Elder said there were two vehicles involved. One, a 1998 Chevrolet pick-up truck, that was “unattended.” The other vehicle was driven by Marie Lindsey, 43, also of Chesterfield, according to the Highway Patrol.

“Lindsey was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident and was transported to Chesterfield General Hospital for her injuries,” Elder said.
