Mildred Bacot Hammond, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the service Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at the funeral home.

Hammond was born Sept. 19, 1930, in Dillon, a daughter of the late Eugene Greyard Bacot and Lina Margaret Quick Bacot. She was a graduate of Cheraw High School, and worked for Chesterfield County Department of Social Services for many years, retiring as a supervisor in 1994. Hammond was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William J. “Jack” Hammond Sr., a sister, Anne Bacot, and by four brothers, Bernard, Eugene, Harold, and Danny Bacot.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Hammond of Chesterfield; two sons, Jackie (Luann) Hammond of Chesterfield, and Rick (Lobie) Hammond of Cheraw; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren, a sister, Peggy (Joe) Calcutt of Florence; two brothers, Bobby (Barbara) Bacot of Laurinburg, N.C., and Laverne Bacot of Aiken.
