Three Northeastern Technical College employees were recently named winners of the South Carolina Technical Education Association (SCTEA) Educator of the Year Awards.

James Oxendine of Rowland, N.C., was nominated for Teacher of the Year for his outstanding performance as a mathematics instructor. He has been an instructor for NETC for five years.

Donna Chavis of Bennettsville was nominated for Administrator of the Year for her dedication and commitment to the management of the College as human resources director, a role she assumed in 2010. She has worked for NETC for 25 years.

Cynthia Sellers of Chesterfield was nominated for Staff Person of the Year for her exceptional service and dedication to the college as a procurement specialist. She has served in this role for nine years and has worked for the college for nearly 15 years.

These NETC employees were recognized Feb. 22 at the annual SCTEA Conference in Myrtle Beach.

Each year, faculty and staff at each of South Carolina’s technical colleges vote for local winners, based on performance criteria established by the SCTEA. This year, faculty and staff at NETC selected Oxendine, Chavis and Sellers to represent the college.
