MCBEE — The Junior and Senior Class of McBee High School experienced a reality check on the morning of April 15 - just three days prior to the Prom.

Trooper Gaskin of the S.C. Highway Patrol made a presentation concerning the dangers of driving w/o a seatbelt, while intoxicated and at high speeds. His presentation depicted actual events and people affected by this dangerous trend among young people. It hit close to home for the students as they viewed the wreckage of a Darlington resident killed at the scene, a Columbia woman grieving the loss of her husband and yet another Darlington youth scarred for life.

The gymnasium sat in total silence as the statistics took on faces of individuals the students could relate to while the video played. This event was scheduled in conjunction with the Prom Promise and fatal car wreckage display at the school in hopes of curbing accidents during the prom season.
