CHESTERFIELD – Chesterfield police have captured a Morven, N.C. man whom allegedly robbed Carolina Bank and Trust in Chesterfield on Monday afternoon.

Henry Walker, 50, was arrested late that same evening on U.S. Highway 74 N.C., according to Chesterfield Police Chief Randall Lear.

“Within an hour of the robbery we had people phoning in with tips to various officers. Unfortunately, he got away with some money, but it was only what that teller had,” said Lear.

Lear said that Walker, who was wearing all black clothing and entered the bank around 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

“The suspect demanded one of the tellers to place money in a bag that he (Walker) provided. Walker then fled the bank and the area in a burgundy Lexus heading north on S.C. Highway 145, which carried a North Carolina license tag,” said Lear.

“He started out driving the burgundy Lexus and later on changed over to a Chrysler Concord,” continued Lear.

Lear said that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), assisted in the case along with Anson, Cheraw and Pageland Police Departments.

“We appreciate all of the help we received in the case from other law enforcement divisions,” said Lear.

Lear said that Walker was scheduled to appear in a bond hearing on Tuesday or Wednesday; however, the amount of his bond was unavailable at press time.
