CHERAW - After the filing period closed for the Nov. 3 Cheraw Municipal Election as of noon last Friday, three current council members have signed up for re-elections in addition to three new candidates. Councilman Robert L. Benton, District 2, Councilwoman Jacqueline Ellerbe-Shannon, District 4, and Councilman Mickey Workman, District 6, is now in competition to maintain his or her council status on the Cheraw Town Council for the next four-year term. Benton's opposition is Billy Wallace; Ellerbe-Shannon's opponent is Jeremy "J.J." Wallace and Workman will face competition with Reid McBride.
